From November 25 to December 10, the campaign "16 days of active action against gender-based violence" is taking place around the world. These days remind us of the importance of fighting for women's rights, equality and freedom from violence.

The Global 16 Days Campaign is an international campaign to combat violence against women and girls. The campaign is held annually from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10, Human Rights Day. This is the time for active and effective action to show that gender-based violence has no place in our society.

Almost one in three women have been physically and/or sexually assaulted by an intimate partner, sexually assaulted by a stranger, or both at least once in their lives. An estimated 736 million women worldwide are subjected to physical and/or sexual violence. A woman is killed every 10 minutes. Source: un.org

Our organization "Bonuvoni Fardo" of Khatlon region has also joined this global initiative! Today, on 11/25/2024, as part of the campaign "16 days of active action against gender-based violence", we held an explanatory and informational meeting with 40 participants from among parents, women, girls, leaders and activists of the Kholmatov jamoat of Shahritus district to raise awareness about the campaign, gender stereotypes, the importance of girls' admission to higher education institutions, to study their rights and inspire participants to take active action.

The event was organized within the framework of the project: “Support for women's legal education”, which is supported by the UNDP in Tajikistan.

Violence against women is not inevitable. It can and should be stopped. Join us and act within the framework of #16Days and every day.
