10.03.2024

March 8 is one of the most popular and beloved holidays, which is celebrated all over the world. But why did this day become a symbol of women’s struggle for their rights and equality?

The history of the celebration of March 8 dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century, when women in different countries of the world began to actively advocate for their rights, equality and fight against discrimination. In 1908, they held large demonstrations in New York City demanding better working conditions, equal pay, and the right to vote. This became the starting point for women's struggle for their rights.

Subsequently, International Women's Day was approved at the Paris Conference in 1910, and later, in 1917, women of Soviet Russia held mass rallies on March 8, which served as the beginning of the October Revolution.

One of the important moments in the history of women's struggle for rights in Tajikistan was the period of Soviet power, when women were granted equal rights with men and had the opportunity to get an education, participate in political life and engage in professional activities. This period had a great influence on the consciousness of Tajik women and pushed them to further fight for their rights.

Today, March 8 has become a symbol not only of the struggle for equality, but also a day of recognition and respect for women, their achievements and work. Equality and respect are the basis of a happy society.
