Fight for rights and equal opportunities
A woman in the labor sphere in Tajikistan has legislative protection that protects her rights and provides equal opportunities in the labor.
The Constitution of Tajikistan guarantees equal rights and freedoms for all, regardless of gender, including the right to work, employment and protection from discrimination in the workplace.
The Law on Labor and Social Protection of Tajikistan sets the minimum age for employment at 16 for regular work and 18 for hard work. The law also establishes equal opportunities for women and men in employment, pay, promotion, and on-the-job training.
One of the important aspects of the protection of women in the labor sphere is the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On State Guarantees of Equality of Men and Women and Equal Opportunities for Their Implementation”. This law prohibits discrimination based on sex and establishes equal rights to employment, wages and working conditions for women and men.
In addition, the Labor Code of Tajikistan guarantees women the right to maternity leave, as well as maternity leave, so that they can care for their newborn children. Additional leave may be granted to women who have disabled children or who are caring for sick relatives.
Also, women in Tajikistan have the right to equal opportunities and protection from workplace violence. Employers must prevent such behavior in the workplace and must take steps to prevent violence and protect victims. Thus, the legislation of Tajikistan provides equal opportunities for women and men in the labor sphere and guarantees protection from discrimination and violence in the workplace.
In this regard, the PO "Bonuvoni fardo" of the Khatlon region is actively involved in the project "Women's Rights in Labor" to ensure the full realization of women's rights through round tables and the development of recommendations for decision makers in Shakhritus, Nosiri Khusrav and Kubodiyon districts .
The project was supported by USAID under the Legal Support Program ICNL.
